Pneumatic rotary actuators
Actuator type and torque are selected against the valve duty, available air pressure, required movement and defined fail position.
Double acting and spring return actuators have different operating and loss-of-air behaviour. The actuator, coupling, valve stem, mounting bracket and accessories must be checked as an assembly. A body size alone does not confirm suitability for a valve.
Technical selection
| Valve duty | Valve type and size, service medium, operating conditions and required opening and closing torque. |
|---|---|
| Actuator | Double acting or spring return, rotation angle, direction and fail position. |
| Air supply | Minimum available pressure at the actuator, air quality and operating cycle. |
| Mechanical interface | Valve stem, coupling, bracket, mounting pattern and alignment. |
| Accessories | Solenoid valve, position indication, limit switches, speed control or positioner as required. |
Installation & maintenance
- Check mechanical alignment and valve movement before final commissioning.
- Verify end positions, feedback and the agreed response to loss of air or control power.
- Inspect air leakage, fasteners and the condition of accessories during maintenance.

Technical drawings and output torque
Open a drawing at full size to check the model code and units. Confirm the final mounting dimensions and torque data against the proposed actuator and the minimum available air pressure.
Request a technical review
Send the application, operating conditions, dimensions and available drawings or photographs. State any information that is still unknown so the technical review can address it.
